“Can a Ghanaian payment gateway own the bridge between mobile money rails and international card networks for African merchants?”
Founded 2012 in Ghana as a consumer eCommerce/bill-payment marketplace, expressPay evolved into a full-stack payment gateway provider — becoming an official Visa Payment Technology Provider and the leading Visa eCommerce processor in Ghana. Today it operates across two layers: a consumer app for airtime, utilities, subscriptions, school fees, and money transfers; and a merchant infrastructure layer offering APIs, QR payments, USSD, POS devices, and bulk payments. Its embedded-finance angle is being the on-ramp between Ghanaian mobile money rails (MTN, AirtelTigo, Vodafone) and international card networks (Visa, Mastercard, Amex, Discover) for local merchants.
