Payments Canada is the national payments infrastructure operator responsible for clearing and settlement systems in Canada, most notably the Large Value Transfer System (LVTS), the Automated Clearing Settlement System (ACSS), and the in-development Real-Time Rail (RTR). The organization's recent strategic focus has been on modernizing Canada's core payments infrastructure — notably the multi-year Real-Time Payments program anchored by Vocalink/Mastercard technology. This is a government-mandated infrastructure role rather than a commercial product pivot.
