“Can a Peruvian lender become the embedded consumer-credit rail for LatAm e-commerce by underwriting small-ticket installment financing in under 37 seconds?”
Founded 2018-2019 by José Carrillo and Patrick Wakeham, Apurata launched as a direct-to-consumer instant personal lender in Peru (loans from S/100 to S/1,000) operating through Tecno Créditos S.A.C. under SBS authorization as a non-deposit-taking 'Casa de Préstamos'. It then extended into embedded POS financing with aCuotaz — a BNPL product that lets Peruvian e-commerce merchants offer installment financing at checkout — and built aPagos, an internal bank-scraping/reconciliation tool. Apurata lends from its own balance sheet ('recursos propios') and handles payouts via manual bank transfers through BCP, BBVA Continental and Interbank.
